The Banff Canmore Community Foundation is pleased to announce that as of June 1, 2017, Rob Buffler will be the foundation’s new executive director.

Rob_BW“I’ve put a lot in to this valley and I’ve learned a lot from the people I have worked with, friends I have made and this special place that I call home. Now, I want to give back in new ways and that’s why I’m excited about taking on this role as executive director of the Banff Canmore Community Foundation,” says Buffler, who has lived in Canmore for the past 14 years.

As an experienced and passionate non-profit leader, Buffler has a successful history of innovation, collaborative leadership, and relationship building with proven management, communication, political and business acumen, and fundraising abilities. Buffler has also delivered community-based programs at the local, regional, and international level for various NGO’s (non-governmental organizations).

“We are excited to welcome Rob to the Banff Canmore Community Foundation team and look forward to introducing him to our donors and community partners in the coming months,” says board chair Bill Fisher. “We are confident that Rob’s passion and vision for our community will serve us well into the future.”

Buffler is a passionate naturalist, outdoor enthusiast, skier, hiker and avid fly fisherman. He moved to the Bow Valley in order to lead the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative. Prior to that, he held various positions as project lead engaging volunteers, helping groups work together, and developing programs for youth at risk. Rob is married to Sally Caudill and is father to two children, ages 14 and 21.

After 12 years as executive director, Lorraine Widmer-Carson is retiring to pursue personal interests and looks forward to finding new ways of being involved in community.
