The SPACE Lab is ready to take off!

Date: 28th February 2017

This year, we have big plans to turn an inaccessible and unused basement space below our offices on Banff Avenue into an inclusive, barrier free, welcoming home for the Bow Valley’s young adults.

We refer to this inclusive concept as the “SPACE Lab.” The SPACE Lab is inspired by the words “Share Philanthropy: Act with Care and Empathy” and will become a place for young people to learn, listen and grow; a gift to our community on the occasion of Canada’s 150th birthday.

The Vision

Imagine a place for young people to hang out, talk, listen, learn and know that they are not alone. The SPACE Lab is about acceptance and occasional lapses of goofiness, creativity and fun and is a step on the path of prevention against teen suicide, against alienation, against isolation. It is a step along the path towards possibility, joy, self-fulfillment and belief in the future.

It is natural for young people to feel confused about their sexual orientation, embarrassed about their financial status, fearful about their job prospects, lifestyle choices, or to have struggles with religious questions. SPACE Lab will provide a venue for compassionate and caring friends and mentors to cultivate a sense of self-worth and empowerment in our youth as they face and overcome life’s struggles.

You can help us bring this great project to life.

Donations through our Shining Stars monthly giving program are now being gratefully accepted. Thanks for supporting helping us bring this dream to life!
